An Acknowledgement of Country

Is a way of showing awareness of and respect for the traditional Aboriginal or Torres Strait island owners land, which a meeting or event is being held – and of recognizing the continuing connection of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island peoples to their Country. An Acknowledgement of Country can be either formal or informal and involve a host or visitor acknowledging the local land and paying respect to the traditional owners and their ancestors. Unlike a welcome to Country, an Acknowledgement can be performed by a non- Indigenous person.

“Rod Catterall & Associates recognise the Aboriginal heritage of this country and acknowledge the Boonwurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the first peoples of the area of the City of Glen Eira.”
