Train The Trainer Model

Train The TRAINER Australia

“Train the Trainer” is the model we use for helping organizations provide staff with the skills needed to build healthy relationships. After we have taught people the skills to build healthy relationships, we focus on understanding that all human service organizations and service businesses do their work in the context of staff to staff relationships. We believe that the better the quality of staff to staff relationships, the better the quality of the work done. Most of the programs we teach can be used in any setting where people are paid to provide services to others.

The goal is to assist others in managing themselves and the safety of all involved through skilful non-physical means. Physical strategies are also taught to provide additional ‘least restrictive’ options in the event the person poses a clear threat of substantial harm to self or others if physically unassisted.

Participants will be given information on how to provide positive behaviour support effectively, with the process of threat & risk management in their workplace. This involves the assessment and ethical response to behaviours of concern, identifying and planning our therapeutic response strategies.

Participants will be trained in a range of strategies to ensure the above objectives are met, including break & escape techniques, and dealing with clients with challenging behaviours.

Training packages listed are recognised across multiple disciplines ie disability, mental health, community services, child welfare, aged care and education sectors. The training packages listed meet industry standards and guidelines to what is person centred and best practise across each sector.

Our training programs can be customized to fit your agency’s needs. The RCA certification models range from 3 to 5 days, depending on the level of training completed.

Train-the-Trainer – Certification & Delivery Pathways

Rod Catterall & Associates (RCA) offers two distinct Train-the-Trainer pathways for suitably experienced individuals who wish to become certified to deliver approved RCA training programs.

The pathway selected determines who the trainer may train, where the training may be delivered, how RCA intellectual property and training resources may be used, and the ongoing conditions attached to the trainer’s certification and/or licence.

Certification is program-specific. A trainer approved in one RCA program, such as Occupational Violence & Aggression (OVA), is authorised only for that program unless they separately complete and are approved for additional RCA programs.

PATHWAY 1 – IN-HOUSE ORGANISATION-SPECIFIC TRAINER

Purpose

The In-House Organisation-Specific Train-the-Trainer pathway is designed for organisations that want to develop their own internal capability rather than continually relying on external trainers.

An organisation nominates suitable staff members to complete the relevant RCA Train-the-Trainer program. Following successful completion and assessment, those individuals are certified to deliver the nominated RCA program within their sponsoring organisation only.

Who the Certification Applies To

The certification is issued to the individual trainer but is linked to the sponsoring organisation and the approved RCA program.

For example:

RCA Certified In-House Trainer – OVA
Authorised Organisation: ABC Community Services

The trainer’s authority to use RCA materials under this pathway is therefore restricted to delivering OVA training for ABC Community Services.

PATHWAY 2 – LICENSED INDEPENDENT MULTI-CLIENT TRAINER

Purpose

The Licensed Independent Multi-Client Trainer pathway is a higher-level commercial arrangement designed for suitably qualified and experienced trainers, consultants or businesses that want to deliver an approved RCA program to multiple external client organisations.

This pathway goes beyond standard Train-the-Trainer certification.

The individual must first successfully complete the relevant RCA Train-the-Trainer requirements and competency assessment and then enter into a separate licensing arrangement with RCA permitting external commercial delivery.

Certification + Commercial Licence

Under this model there are two distinct components:

Trainer Certification
Confirms that the individual has demonstrated the required knowledge, skills and training capability for the specified RCA program.

Independent Multi-Client Licence
Provides permission, subject to an RCA licence agreement, for that trainer to use specified RCA intellectual property and resources when delivering the approved program commercially to external organisations.

Therefore:

Certification demonstrates competence.
The licence provides permission for external commercial delivery.

Holding an RCA trainer certificate alone does not automatically provide commercial rights to deliver RCA programs externally.
